Author Guidelines

JURNAL SINTIKA
(Jurnal Sistem Informasi, Teknik Informatika, dan Sistem Komputer)

JURNAL SINTIKA is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal published by Yasin Publisher (Yayasan Amal Sosial Islami Nahdliyin). The journal provides an international platform for researchers, academics, professionals, and practitioners to disseminate high-quality original research, review articles, case studies, and technological innovations in the fields of Information Systems, Informatics Engineering, and Computer Systems.

Submitted manuscripts must be original, scientifically sound, unpublished, and must not be under consideration for publication in any other journal. All manuscripts are evaluated through a rigorous editorial screening and Double-Blind Peer Review process to ensure academic quality, originality, and scientific contribution.

1. Scope of the Journal

JURNAL SINTIKA welcomes manuscripts in, but not limited to, the following fields:

2. Types of Manuscripts

The journal accepts the following categories of manuscripts:

  • Original Research Articles
  • Review Articles
  • Case Studies
  • Applied Research
  • Technological Innovation Papers

All submissions should present significant scientific contributions relevant to the journal's scope.

3. Manuscript Language

JURNAL SINTIKA accepts manuscripts written in Indonesian or English.

Manuscripts Written in Indonesian

Authors must provide:

  • Title in Indonesian and English
  • Abstract in Indonesian and English
  • Keywords in Indonesian and English

Manuscripts Written in English

Authors must provide:

  • Title in English
  • Abstract in English
  • Keywords in English

The language should be clear, concise, grammatically correct, and suitable for academic publication.

4. Manuscript Format

Authors are required to prepare manuscripts using the official JURNAL SINTIKA Article Template.

General formatting requirements:

  • Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
  • 3,000–6,000 words
  • Constantia font
  • Font size: 11 pt
  • Single line spacing
  • Follow the journal template and formatting instructions

5. Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should contain the following sections:

  1. Title
  2. Author(s)
  3. Affiliation(s)
  4. Corresponding Author
  5. Abstract
  6. Keywords
  7. Introduction
  8. Research Methodology
  9. Results and Discussion
  10. Conclusion
  11. Acknowledgements (Optional)
  12. References

6. Title

The title should:

  • Clearly represent the content of the manuscript.
  • Contain approximately 10–14 words.
  • Avoid unnecessary abbreviations.
  • Be informative, concise, and specific.

7. Author Information

Each manuscript must include:

  • Full name of each author (without academic titles)
  • Institutional affiliation
  • Country
  • Email address
  • ORCID iD (strongly recommended)

The corresponding author must be identified using an asterisk (*).

8. Abstract

The abstract should:

  • Contain 100–150 words.
  • Briefly explain:
    • Research objectives
    • Methodology
    • Main findings
    • Conclusions

The abstract should not include citations, figures, tables, equations, or unexplained abbreviations.

9. Keywords

Authors should provide 3–5 keywords.

Keywords should:

  • Be arranged alphabetically.
  • Represent the core concepts of the manuscript.
  • Avoid unnecessary repetition of words already appearing in the title.

10. Introduction

The introduction should include:

  • Research background
  • Literature review
  • State of the art
  • Research gap
  • Research objectives
  • Novelty and significance of the study

Authors are encouraged to use recent and relevant scholarly references.

11. Research Methodology

Authors should clearly describe:

  • Research design
  • Population and sample
  • Materials and instruments
  • Data collection methods
  • Data analysis techniques

The methodology should provide sufficient detail to enable replication.

12. Results and Discussion

Results may be presented using:

  • Text
  • Tables
  • Figures
  • Graphs

The discussion should:

  • Interpret the findings
  • Compare results with previous studies
  • Explain scientific contributions
  • Highlight theoretical and practical implications

Table titles should appear above the tables.

Figure captions should appear below the figures.

13. Conclusion

The conclusion should:

  • Summarize the main findings
  • Address the research objectives
  • Highlight scientific contributions
  • Provide recommendations for future research

Recommended length: Maximum 100 words.

14. Acknowledgements (Optional)

Authors may acknowledge:

  • Funding agencies
  • Research institutions
  • Collaborators
  • Individuals who contributed significantly to the research

15. References

Authors should:

  • Include a minimum of 15 references.
  • Ensure that at least 80% of the references are journal articles published within the last ten years.
  • Prioritize references from reputable scholarly journals indexed in recognized databases.
  • Include DOI whenever available.

The use of reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote is strongly recommended.

All citations and references must follow the APA 7th Edition style.

16. Submission

All manuscripts must be submitted through the Online Journal System (OJS).

Before submission, authors should ensure that:

  • The manuscript follows the official template.
  • The manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere.
  • All authors have approved the submitted version.
  • Metadata are complete and accurate.
  • Figures and tables are of publication quality.
  • References are correctly formatted.
  • Ethical approval has been obtained where applicable.
  • ORCID iD is provided whenever possible.

17. Peer Review Process

Every manuscript undergoes the following stages:

  • Initial Editorial Screening
  • Plagiarism Screening
  • Double-Blind Peer Review
  • Editorial Decision
  • Copyediting
  • Proofreading
  • Online Publication

The average review process takes approximately 4–8 weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the quality of the submitted manuscript.

The final publication decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief.

18. Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts are screened using Turnitin, iThenticate, or equivalent plagiarism detection software before entering the peer-review process.

As a general guideline:

  • Overall Similarity Index should not exceed 20%.
  • Similarity from any single source should not exceed 5%.

Editorial decisions are based on qualitative assessment rather than similarity percentages alone.

19. Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Authors may use AI-assisted tools only for language improvement, grammar checking, or writing assistance.

AI tools:

  • must not be listed as authors;
  • must not replace scientific responsibility;
  • must be disclosed where their use extends beyond language editing.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all submitted content.

20. Publication Ethics

Authors must comply with the ethical standards established by:

  • Licensing Policy
  • Open Access Policy
  • Retraction & Withdrawal Policy

Violation of these policies may result in manuscript rejection, publication correction, or article retraction.

21. Copyright and License

Authors retain the copyright of their published work.

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) License, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, adaptation, and reproduction in any medium, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s) and source.

22. Article Processing Charge (APC)

An Article Processing Charge (APC) applies only to manuscripts that have been accepted for publication after completing the peer-review process.

Detailed information regarding publication fees is available on the journal's Author Fees page.

International authors affiliated with institutions outside Indonesia are eligible for a full waiver of the APC. No publication fee will be charged for accepted manuscripts submitted by international authors.

23. Publication Frequency

JURNAL SINTIKA is published quarterly, with four issues each year:

  • February
  • May
  • September
  • December

Accepted articles are published online immediately after completing the editorial and production process for their scheduled issue.
