Plagiarism Policy

JURNAL SINTIKA (Jurnal Sistem Informasi, Teknik Informatika, dan Sistem Komputer) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. All submitted manuscripts must be original works that have not been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal.

The journal adopts a strict policy against all forms of plagiarism, including:

  • Direct plagiarism
  • Self-plagiarism (duplicate publication)
  • Mosaic plagiarism
  • Paraphrasing without proper citation
  • Data or image plagiarism
  • Unauthorized use of copyrighted materials

Similarity Screening

Every manuscript submitted to JURNAL SINTIKA is screened using reliable plagiarism detection software before entering the peer-review process.

The Editorial Board evaluates the similarity report carefully to distinguish legitimate similarities (such as references, quotations, and commonly used technical terms) from unacceptable plagiarism.

Similarity Threshold

To be considered for publication, manuscripts should generally meet the following similarity criteria:

  • Overall Similarity Index: Maximum 20%
  • Similarity from a Single Source: Maximum 5%

Meeting the similarity threshold does not automatically guarantee acceptance. Editors also evaluate the nature and context of any detected similarities.

Editorial Actions

If plagiarism is identified during the editorial or peer-review process, the Editorial Board may take one or more of the following actions:

  • Request the author to revise and properly cite the sources.
  • Return the manuscript for substantial revision.
  • Reject the manuscript immediately.
  • Suspend the review process until the issue is resolved.

If plagiarism is discovered after publication, JURNAL SINTIKA reserves the right to:

  • Publish a correction or erratum.
  • Retract the published article.
  • Notify the author's institution when appropriate.
  • Remove the article from the journal's website if required by publication ethics.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • The submitted manuscript is entirely original.
  • All ideas, data, figures, tables, and quotations from other sources are properly cited.
  • Appropriate permission has been obtained for any copyrighted materials used.
  • The manuscript has not been published or submitted elsewhere.

Authors are also encouraged to perform their own plagiarism checks before submission.

Compliance with Publication Ethics

JURNAL SINTIKA follows the principles and best practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) regarding plagiarism, research integrity, and responsible scholarly publishing.

Any confirmed case of plagiarism or academic misconduct will be handled according to COPE guidelines to protect the integrity and credibility of the scientific record.

By submitting a manuscript to JURNAL SINTIKA, all authors declare that:

  • The manuscript is an original work.
  • The manuscript is free from plagiarism.
  • All cited sources have been properly acknowledged.
  • The manuscript complies with the ethical standards of scholarly publishing.
